PHILADELPHIA — This week, Zack Wheeler delivered an encouraging performance, striking out nine batters over 5 2/3 innings in his fourth minor-league rehab start with Double-A Reading.
Wheeler allowed three runs but looked sharper, reaching deeper into the game while building arm strength after thoracic outlet syndrome recovery. He reported feeling great afterward with normal post-start soreness.
The veteran ace is on track for at least one more rehab outing before a potential late-April return.
Wheeler’s progress is a major positive for the Phillies rotation.
His impending return could provide much-needed stability to Philadelphia’s starting staff and boost the team’s chances in the 2026 season.
