Shubman Gill walks into the ODI series against New Zealand carrying two jobs at once. He is India's Test captain, he is the world No. 1 ODI batter per current reporting, and now, for the first three ODIs of this tour, he is also India's ODI captain. Auckland on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, will be the first place where we see how he carries that load.
