MLB The Show 26 Honus Wagner Attributes and U4GM Tips
Honus Wagner is back in the spotlight in MLB The Show 26, and his new 99 OVR Heavy Lumber card gives Diamond Dynasty players a strong reason to work through the latest Topps Update content. Released on October 14, 2026, the card represents the Pittsburgh Pirates legend at shortstop and can be earned through program progression rather than relying on random pack luck. If you're planning upgrades for your squad, MLB Stubs are another resource to consider when comparing roster-building options.
Honus Wagner Heavy Lumber Card Attributes
Wagner's biggest strength is his ability to make consistent contact against different pitching matchups. His Heavy Lumber card features several top-tier hitting attributes, making him an appealing choice for players who value reliable at-bats.
Key attributes include:
• 125 Contact vs. Right-Handed Pitchers
• 125 Contact vs. Left-Handed Pitchers
• 125 Vision
• 125 Clutch
• 80 Power vs. Right-Handed Pitchers
• 86 Power vs. Left-Handed Pitchers
Compared with his earlier Milestone version, the Heavy Lumber card offers more power while retaining elite contact ratings. The Milestone card has 66 Power against both right- and left-handed pitching, so the new version provides a noticeable offensive upgrade on paper.
Before spending resources on other shortstops, compare Wagner's attributes with your current starter and consider whether his balanced hitting profile suits your playstyle. Players looking to expand their collection can also explore options to buy MLB Stubs while planning which upgrades deserve priority.
How to Unlock Honus Wagner
Wagner becomes available at 30 points in the Heavy Lumber Program. You don't need to complete every mission to earn him, making this reward manageable if you focus on the right objectives.
The main player rewards are arranged as follows:
• 10 points: Bryce Eldridge
• 20 points: Sal Stewart
• 30 points: Honus Wagner
• 40 points: Tony Gwynn
Packs and account XP are also included along the progression path. If you want Wagner first, concentrate on earning 30 points before pursuing the remaining rewards.
Heavy Lumber Program Missions
The program features five missions worth 10 points each. Completing any three will provide the 30 points required for Wagner.
• Earn 500 Parallel XP with any Bryce Eldridge card.
• Earn 500 Parallel XP with any Sal Stewart card.
• Earn 1,000 Parallel XP with shortstops and/or Pirates players.
• Earn 1,000 Parallel XP with right fielders and/or Padres players.
• Earn 500 Parallel XP with any Bobby Witt Jr. card.
Eligible modes include Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, Conquest, Diamond Quest, and several multiplayer options. Choose the mode you can complete consistently instead of forcing yourself into online games if that's not your preference.
The Fastest Way to Earn Wagner
For a straightforward approach, combine eligible players in one lineup whenever possible.
1. Start with the team and position missions. Shortstops, Pirates players, right fielders, and Padres players can contribute toward the relevant objectives.
2. Use cards you already own. Bryce Eldridge, Sal Stewart, and Bobby Witt Jr. cards can help you complete their specific Parallel XP missions.
3. Check progress after each game. Make sure the correct mission is tracking before spending time on additional matches.
4. Stop at 30 points if Wagner is your priority. You can return later for Tony Gwynn and the remaining rewards.
If your roster needs more upgrades to support this grind, compare available options for cheap MLB Stubs before deciding how to allocate your resources.
